Learning more about Mountain Bike Trail Building?

Location: Trail, BC

Learning from our neighbors in Rossland about Trailbuilding

In the Trail & District Area we are ready to learn from our friends and neighbors in Rossland on how to move beyond simply riding our local trails and now we would like to learn how to build them? We want to work within an existing framework of knowledge gained and learned by experienced Trail Care Crew people. Our goal is to learn from you in Rossland about the programs you may have to offer to provides us the opportunity to learn from your many years of mountain biking trail building experience series. It is our hope that Bike Rossland Trail and your knowledgable Care Crew experts would be interesting in teaching and assisting volunteers from the Explore Your Trail group the art and science of trailbuilding.

Perhaps you offer a school or course that combines the interactive learning, hands-on trailwork and top-notch instructors to help us learn to develop our many volunteers into skilled trailworkers and trailwork leaders.

The topics we are most interested to learn are:

  • Sustainable trail design
  • Basic construction
  • Turns, drainage and bridges
  • Trail Reroutes
  • Trail Reclamation
  • Rockwork
  • Fostering volunteer clubs and partnerships
  • Effective Use of Signage

We are now connecting with the Kootenay Trails Society and would very much like to organize a meet and greet BBQ in either Trail or Rossland, or hold two Meet and Greet BBQs to discuss this opportunity to learn from you and all your experience.
